Yankees’ Fans Are The WORST

For those of you that do not know this, let me preface this by saying that I am a Yankees’ fan. Now, with that being said, I hate my fellow Yankees’ fans. Not all of them but a good portion of them are loud, obnoxious, spoiled buffoons who have no idea what they are talking and I’ve reached my tipping point.

This has been the worst Yankees’ season in a while and the fans will let you know it but if you would listen to the majority of this fan base, you’d think this team was the Pirates for the past 20 years. All they do is bitch and moan and complain about everything but, at the same time, if a fan of another team says something negative about them, they’ll do a complete 180 and throw the “WE HAVE 27 RINGS!” in your face, even though most of these fans have likely been alive for like 2 of them, if they’re lucky. They talk out of both sides of their mouth and it drives me insane. Yes, the Yankees have been disappointing over the past few years and, while I say I can’t stand the fan base, there are some intelligent ones who know what they’re talking about and that’s why it has been infuriating dealing with this regime. We’ve had to listen to Brian Cashman and Aaron Boone tell us over the years that Gary Sanchez was a good player, that Aaron Hicks was worth the contract and is a good player, that IKF is a good defensive shortstop and that Josh Donaldson was going to have a Josh Donaldson-esque type of year this year. We were told all of this, as if we as fans have no eyes and can’t see things for ourselves. This has led for the fanbase to call for Cashman and Boone’s heads, though that has been something they’ve been doing for the past 5 years because, like I said, they’re idiots and are never happy but this year, I agree with them. It is time for a new regime but I know Yankees’ fans. They want change so what are they going to do to try and get it?

Yup. They’re not going to stop watching on television, like they should. They’re not going to stay home and enjoy what’s left of the summer and not go to the stadium, like they should. Nope. These idiots want to PACK THE STADIUM, spend money on tickets, food, beer, parking, etc. and hold up signs, boo and chant to let their feelings be known. YAY! GOOD FOR YOU GUYS! Keep putting money in their pockets while voicing your frustration. I’m sure Hal Steinbrenner is losing sleep at night because Jon from Maspeth is going to show up, boo and chant “Fire Cashman!” while he knows you’re probably spending around $300 for the ticket and concessions. And then these are also the same fans who, if they got what they wanted and Cashman and Boone were fired, they’d want Derek Jeter as the GM, Don Mattingly as the Manager, Andy Pettitte as the pitching coach, Jorge Posada as the bench coach, Paul O’Neill as the hitting coach, Homer Bush as the 1st base coach, Chuck Knoblauch as the 3rd base coach and Scott Brosius as the beer vendor in the legends seats. They are the same people who would want them to hire former Yankees strictly because they are former Yankees and not because of anything they’ve done front office wise or coaching wise that is impressive on their resume. The idiot fans are even on the air, pushing these narratives.

This season has sucked. There is no doubt about that but if people want change, they need to care as much about this team as much as they care about you (Spoiler: They don’t care about you). Don’t watch. Don’t go to the stadium. Don’t waste any of your time or money on them. Stop bitching and moaning about everything on social media and the radio. Baseball season is over. Enjoy what’s left of your summer and get ready for football season because, frankly, I can’t take another day of listening to this fanbase complain out of one side of their mouth and then spout out “27 RINGS!” and that Shohei Ohtani is coming here out of the other side. You look and sound stupid and that reflects on all of us.

Joe Judge Was Terrible And Had To Go; Why Is That So Hard For Some To See?

It’s true. Dave Gettleman sucked at his job. I mean, he was BRUTAL. From his draft picks to signings to trades and everything in between, the man was an egotistical, know it all bully who failed horribly. There is no denying any of this. Do you know what else is true? Joe Judge was an in over his head head coach who also needed to go and yet, you’d think he was undeserved collateral damage based on what some of the plugged in Giants’ beat reporters are saying but don’t get it twisted. Dave Gettleman wasn’t the only one who sucked. Joe Judge sucked just as bad and deserved his fate.

I mean, look at all of that crap. That’s what all of those tweets from the Giants’ beat are. They’re crap. I’m sure Joe Judge is a good guy. I’m sure he’s treated these guys well and always made himself available but this is ridiculous. Saying that the coaches aren’t the reason for the Giants’ failures or his tenure was abrupt or he was “saddled” with one of the worst GMs in recent history as the reasoning why he was is laughable. He was brutal himself. Lets prove it!

Adam Schefter tweeted this the day after Christmas. Joe Judge was safe. He was coming back for the upcoming season. Despite how bad the season had been up until then, John Mara and Steve Tisch weren’t going to fire their 3rd head coach after 2 seasons. Despite how terrible the GM had been and how crappy of a roster Dave Gettleman assembled, Joe Judge was coming back. And then what happened? On that very same day that Adam Schefter tweeted this out, the Giants started Jake Fromm and never stood a chance. Then, at halftime, they went to Mike Glennon, who was a Joe Judge signee, not Dave Gettleman, and things got even worse. They lost 34-10. Then came the Bears. A team in the same boat as the Giants. Just dreadful offensively and poorly coached. As a matter of fact, it was known that Matt Nagy was a dead man walking. There was no way he was coming back. So, surely Joe Judge and the Giants could put up a respectable effort against another bottom of the barrel team playing with a lame duck head coach, right? WRONG. The Bears mopped the floor with the Giants, 29-3, and sent Joe Judge into an 11 minute diatribe in his post game press conference where he took shots at the coaches who coached this team before, lied about thinking he was going to get fired while coaching for the Patriots in 2018, lied about players, past and present, calling him and saying they want to be Giants and then proceeded to take shots at the Washington Football Team and said that the Giants aren’t a “clown show organization”. LOL. Ok, Joe. The Giants promptly went out this past Sunday and lost to that implied clown show organization. Not only that but the players quit and THE COACH QUIT. Joe Judge, not Freddie Kitchens, called for 2 (TWO!) quarterback sneaks on 2nd and 3rd down from within his own 5 yard line to give the punter more room. Rather than try and run a play in the useless last game of the season that has no bearing on you or your opponent, this dunce ran a couple of quarterback sneaks just so he could punt. HE QUIT. Mr. Tough Guy Talk, who promised his team would always play hard, smart and never quit in his introductory press conference, proceeded to complete the trifecta in his final game as Giants’ head coach. His team never played hard and they were one of the most undisciplined teams in all of football and he put the final nail in his own coffin on Sunday when he quit in broad daylight.

You see, it doesn’t have to be one or the other. It doesn’t have to be Dave Gettleman sucks or Joe Judge sucks. They both suck and I can’t comprehend how these “experts” can see it any other way. Like I said, maybe Judge was a good guy to them. Maybe he has something on them. Maybe Dave Gettleman was that big of a piece of garbage to them that they feel like piling on. I don’t know but I do know that, in this situation, both of them deserved to lose their jobs and, thankfully, the owner agreed. Sure, Dave Gettleman was a terrible GM and didn’t deserve the job in the first place but that doesn’t mean Joe Judge was any sort of collateral damage. Joe Judge made his own bed. He got himself fired over the past 2 1/2 weeks and he deserved to go.

The Jets Are Starting Joe Flacco On Sunday Because Of Course They Are

I expect I know the reasoning as to why the Jets are starting Joe Flacco this Sunday against the Dolphins but man, it still doesn’t make it right or make sense.

If you listen to sports talk radio, as I do, you heard a countless amount of callers call in today and give their opinions as to why Joe Flacco is starting over Mike White and yes, they are as bad and ridiculous as you may think. They ranged from benching Mike White because the Jets were afraid he’d go off on the Dolphins and reignite a nonexistent QB controversy that was created after one game against the Bengals to Joe Douglas pushing to start Joe Flacco because he had to rationalize his trading of a 6th round pick for a quarterback who was never going to see the field. Those are two of the dumbest reasons I could ever imagine hearing as to why one quarterback would be benched and why another would be named a starter. The Jets know their future is Zach Wilson. If they thought Mike White could bounce back and light up the Dolphins, THEY WOULD PLAY HIM! There’s nothing wrong in letting a guy play if you think he can win and if you think you may have a future backup quarterback or a trade piece. The Jets obviously don’t think they have that in White (I told you so). A GM also wouldn’t tell his head coach who to play based on what he traded for that player to make himself look better. Hell, that could completely backfire, Flacco can crap the bed on Sunday and it could make Douglas look even worse. None of those ridiculous reasons is what’s behind this. What’s behind this is that the Jets think Joe Flacco gives them the best chance to win on Sunday, plain and simple.

That’s it. The Jets watched the film from Sunday, saw what we all saw while watching that game and saw how they’ve played the rest of the season and said to themselves that, more than anything, the one thing they need immediately is a win. Whether it’s to get the morale back up in the locker room with the coaches and players or to pacify the fans for one afternoon before Zach Wilson returns, this team is desperate for a win and like Herm said, “You play to win the game.” Those coaches coach to win. Those players play to win. That’s their job and I get it and sure, maybe Joe Flacco does give them the best chance to win but, as a Giants’ fan, this feels awfully similar to when Eli was benched for Geno Smith. You had a team that wasn’t going anywhere and instead of giving the 26 year old potential backup another shot to see if there was any sort of middle ground between the Cincinnati game and the Buffalo game, you went to JOE FLACCO to try and get a win in a meaningless game that will tell you nothing you already didn’t know. Just like the Giants going to Geno Smith instead of giving Davis Webb a shot, it’s a move that might make sense to the guys in that locker room but for the future and to everyone else watching, especially the fans of the team, it doesn’t make a lick of sense. And just like the Giants with Geno, they Jets will probably lose on Sunday to Miami as well, making this decision even more useless than it currently seems.

Enough Of These Narratives; There Is No Jets’ QB Controversy And The Giants Aren’t Going To The Playoffs

I get that these people in the media have a job to do but at what point do you decide to start spewing utter nonsense just for the sake of conversation rather than being realistic because enough is enough of this crap. I can’t stand it anymore because this world is full of fans who are idiots and take what these people say as gospel and run with it and it’s that time of the year again when the talking heads put it out there that the Giants can possibly make the playoffs and the idiots are eating it up yet again. But, it gets worse because, this year, not only are people getting convinced that the Giants are about to go on some magical run (again) but now they’re also being convinced that a 26 year old journeyman 5th round pick is suddenly the Jets’ version of Tom Brady, making their freshly faced 2nd overall pick Zach Wilson akin to Drew Bledsoe.

Lets start with the Giants. If you’re a Giants’ fan or have paid attention to this team over the past few seasons, you’d think you were watching a rerun. Every year, it’s the same song and dance and yet, every year, a very good portion of the fan base falls for this schtick over and over again. What happens is that the Giants start off horribly, prompting their fan base to call for the heads of anyone and everyone who has a prominent role in the organization. Then, they win a game. WOO HOO! They win one game against an overrated team and just like that, the start to the season is forgotten and the media and fans look ahead to the rest of schedule and somehow convince themselves that the Giants should and will win 6 of their next 7 and will be right in the thick of things for the playoffs. It happens EVERY YEAR and it’s happening as we speak. All you will hear for the next 2 weeks is how they can make a run to the playoffs and then Monday night will come. They go to Tampa Bay and they will get stomped and on the following Tuesday morning, everything will go back to the way it was during the beginning of the year, as if all that playoff crap never happened. And then guess what? They’ll win a game! They’ll beat the Eagles and the playoff talk will be back and then they’ll lose to the Dolphins because that’s what they do. They’re a terrible team and that seems to be something that a lot of people can’t grasp. The Giants SUCK. Sure, they’ll be in games but they’ll lose because that’s what they do. They lose. Sure, they may win a game here or there but more often than not, THEY WILL LOSE and the fact that people on tv, the radio and in the newspapers push the same tired playoff narrative year after year after year when they’re 2-7, 2-7 and 3-6 is ridiculous.

Speaking of ridiculous, the apparent savior of the Jets, Mike White. I get it. He balled out. He led the Jets to an impressive win against a good team on the come up in the Bengals. I also get that the Jets and their fans have been DESPERATE to see good quarterback play. The past couple of years have not been good and having a guy light it up and throw for 400 yards in his first career start is an exciting thing but the talk afterwards about having a QB controversy? STOP. They took Zach Wilson with the 2nd overall pick in the draft. He’s been called the ‘Mormon Mahomes’. There were a few people who said they would’ve taken him ahead of Trevor Lawrence. Zach Wilson is the future of this team and should be the starting quarterback the moment he is healthy enough to step foot on that field, no matter how well Mike White may be playing. The Jets had their opportunity to go this route and play a veteran QB. That was at the beginning of the year but they decided not to bring in any competition for Zach. They wanted him to know that he was THE guy. They could’ve easily had Joe Flacco back and had a legitimate battle in training camp. They could’ve started Wilson on the bench like the Bears did with Justin Fields and like the 49ers are still doing with Trey Lance but they decided not to. Now, I will say this injury is probably a good thing for him because it gives him a chance to gather himself, watch from the sidelines for a couple of weeks and get himself ready to come back but the moment he is fully healthy and ready to go, he’s the guy. Not Mike White. He’s a nice story. He lit up the Bengals. Wonderful. He also got hurt the following game and was also hurt in the Bengals’ game as well. Maybe he lights up the Bills this week. Maybe he shows why he was a 5th round pick who just made his first career start a few weeks ago. Who knows but I do know that there is no QB battle or controversy, no matter how good he may play and no matter what may be said or written by “experts” or fans.

Now, if this ends up being wrong and Mike White somehow turns into the next Kurt Warner and the Giants figure it out and go on a magical run, I will eat all the crow I can but I feel very sure that neither of those things are going to happen. All we need now is for these narratives to stop because they’re a waste of time and energy.

A Letter To John Mara

Dear Mr. Mara,

I’m a lifelong, diehard New York Giants’ fan. I grew up on this team and have seen the good and the bad. From being brought up on Dave Brown, Kent Graham, Danny Kanell and Kerry Collins to experiencing the euphoria of two Super Bowl championships under Tom Coughlin and Eli Manning, there was nothing that I thought I hadn’t seen. I was wrong. This past decade of football, specifically the last 5 years in particular, have been some of the most brutal excuses for football seasons that any team can put a football fan through and I know there are other fan bases that have dealt with similar ineptitude for a lot longer but the fact remains that it is unacceptable. All I, and other Giants’ fans, hear is about doing things the “Giants’ way”, perhaps in reference to playing football like the Giants of the late 80s and early 90s. Hard hitting, defensive minded, well coached football. Well, that hasn’t been the case for a while and that type of football, for the time being, is dead and buried. This is a high octane, passing league that requires explosiveness and outside the box thinking and those are things that you can’t seem to comprehend. The “Giants way” isn’t something to strive for right now because the Giants’ way in 2021 is commiserate of the 2008 Detroit Lions and 2017 Cleveland Browns. The Giants way is being the worst team in football and not having a clue as to what to do about it.

My theory is is that you feel a loyalty to your dad and to this organization to do things the way they’ve always been done because that’s all you know. You only interview and hire people who have connections to the organization or to people who were once in the organization. Joe Judge was hired in part because of his relationship with coach Belichick. You then forced Jason Garrett on him as his offensive coordinator because he was a backup quarterback here for a couple of years in the early 2000s. After you fired Jerry Reese, the only candidate you interviewed to be GM from outside of the organization was Louis Riddick. The other three candidates were Marc Ross, Kevin Abrams and, of course, Dave Gettleman. Ross was the Vice President of Player Evaluation, Abrams was the Assistant GM for 16 years and Dave Gettleman spent 15 years as a personnel executive with the team before becoming the GM of the Panthers. Pat Shurmur was handpicked by Gettleman. Great move that was. Before that, Steve Spagnuolo was brought back and Ben McAdoo was promoted to head coach because you didn’t want to let your guy go to the Eagles. Another massive mistake. This team and you, in particular, never look or think outside of the big blue box and it’s become infuriating.

Then there’s the talent on the team or should I say lack thereof? We may or may not have a quarterback but we still can’t figure that out in year 3 because the coach won’t let him cut it loose and he can’t go more than one game without playing behind the same offensive line. You drafted a running back with the 2nd overall pick in a draft full of quarterbacks and an offensive guard that was an All-Pro walking into the door. A RUNNING BACK 2ND OVERALL. And the running back was taken because you stupidly thought that you could squeeze a few more seasons out of Eli Manning as an “I’m sorry” after he was benched in Oakland for GENO SMITH. I mean, what the hell did I just type. It’s been 4 years and I still can’t believe that Eli Manning was benched and his consecutive starts streak was snapped for Geno Smith.

(The trash can never stood a chance)

It finally looked like we may have something last year. The team started slow but finished well in the 2nd half of the season, playing hard for Joe Judge and giving us fans a glimmer of hope but once again, it looks to be fools gold. For a coach that preaches doing the fundamentals, being disciplined and playing smart, his team does none of those. He challenged a scoring play in week one, his defense that looked so good last year has been a huge disappointment and the play calling is more conservative than Fox News. You tried to build your team like the Giants of old because it’s the “Giants’ way” and it’s all you know but the fact is is that this team sucks and we’ve pointed the fingers at the coaches, players and GM long enough. The biggest issue is you, Mr. Mara. Nothing will change unless you change. The old saying is that the best ability is availability. Well, in your case, the best ability needs to be adaptability because if you don’t adapt and start playing 21st century football, the only winning football from this team that you will see will be from those memories that you and all of us are so fond of.

Vince McMahon Reportedly Wanted To Make Adam Cole A Manager And Change His Name

Yes. You read that right. WWE’s last ditch pitch to keep Adam Cole with the company was to call him up, have him be a MANAGER for a newly heel Keith Lee and to have a different name because, get this, Michael COLE already exists.

Now, after watching Adam Cole before getting to WWE and during his run in NXT, you would find this hard to believe because he is one of the best wrestlers in the world. He is the complete package. But then you realize that this is Vince McMahon and Bruce Prichard calling the shots now. In their minds, you can’t be a star unless you are 6’4 or taller, no matter how good you may be in the ring and on the mic so while this was hard to believe at first, I absolutely believe this to be the case and many other people have also confirmed that this was the actual pitch to Adam Cole and my god, they just don’t get.

This company is so focused on sports entertainment and creating larger than life stars that they forget what that second W stands for. Fans are fans of professional WRESTLING. Sure, we love good storylines and characters but that is all a lead up to the main attraction and pay off, which is that match itself. Changing Adam Cole’s name because you’re announcers last name is Cole, putting a microphone in his hand and having him strictly be a mouthpiece for someone when he is one of the best workers in the world is mind boggling. I already thought the decision to leave was an easy one but hearing this just shows me that it was a hell of a lot easier than I thought.

If this is what they pitched for Cole, you can only imagine what they’re going to pitch to other guys who contracts may be running up soon, if they pitch anything at all. Hell, a report just came out that Kevin Owens’ contract is up in January and he’s as good as gone. This is a company that is so lost and continues to feed talent to the opposition who then, takes that talent, uses them to the best of their ability and continually puts on better and more entertaining shows on a week in and week out basis. I mean, look at what the misused talent is doing right now in AEW. CM Punk decided to come back to wrestling. Bryan Danielson is dropping F bombs and is going to wrestle Kenny Omega. Adam Cole is in ‘The Elite’. Andrade and Pac are being made to look like stars. Malakai Black is kicking people’s heads off on a weekly basis and is feuding with Cody Rhodes. Oh, and lets not forget FTR or, better known as ‘The Revival’ to WWE fan boys. They are being pushed and used an old school, kick ass tag team. You know, what they are. What was WWE’s plan for them when discussing new contracts? Well, just in case you forgot..

I don’t even know what those outfits are but I do know that FTR made the right move in turning down whatever Vince offered.

I say it all the time and I will continue to say that it is a great time to be a wrestling fan because AEW is taking incredibly talented people that the other company doesn’t know how to use and is letting them be themselves and they are flourishing. They are putting on professional wrestling shows and for that, the fans are grateful. Hell, I don’t even watch Monday Night Raw anymore, it’s that bad. I hope AEW’s success makes WWE step their game up but my worry is is that WWE sees nothing wrong with how their game is going at the moment and that’s a scary thought.

Congrats, Adam Cole. You made the smart, correct and, apparently, very easy choice, Bay Bay.

Congrats, Captain

Despite the opinion of one biased reporter, I think we can all agree that Derek Jeter unanimously belongs in the Baseball Hall of Fame and today, he will rightfully take his place in Cooperstown amongst his peers as a first ballot, should be unanimous hall of famer.

It’s very weird being at a point in life now where you’re getting to witness the beginning and end of full careers. From witnessing him getting called up in 1995 and just sitting on the bench during that Mariners’ playoff series to take it all in to being the opening day shortstop the following year in his rookie season in 1996 to everything that followed that, which is a whole hell of a lot, to the final game of his career at Fenway Park in 2014, there was never a dull moment in the career of Derek Jeter. He was a player who was built for this stage. He was built for the big moment and he proved that time and time again. There was nobody else you’d rather have up in a big moment. Whether it was leading off a World Series game in style, getting his 3000th hit in the most made for movie way imaginable or being renamed Mr.November, Derek had his finger on the pulse of the moment. I will say, though, for as much as I love him and am waxing poetic about him, he wasn’t the best defender BUT.. but when a big defensive play had to be made and was there to be made, you wanted nobody else chasing a fly ball into the stands, making a jump throw in the hole or being in position to make the most improbable plays imaginable (long live “the flip”).

More importantly than all of that, he was a winner. He played in 158 playoff games. In his 20 year career, he played in only 1 GAME where the Yankees were eliminated from playoff contention. ONE. And what did he do in that one game? He walked off in his final game at Yankee Stadium. He is a 5x World Series champion, a World Series MVP, has a .308 lifetime playoff average with 200 hits.

No one encapsulated what it was to be a Yankee more than Derek Jeter. You couldn’t have found a better person or player to be ‘The Captain’ for this franchise and he wore that ‘C’ proudly. I anticipate his speech being a lot like the way he played the game. It will be both loud and silent. It’ll hit all the right notes and will leave a mark but won’t be anything over the top. It will be prototypical Derek Jeter and I wouldn’t expect anything less. Congratulations to ‘The Captain’. It was an honor to watch your career from start to finish and today, you take your rightful place in Cooperstown.

AEW > WWE

They’ve been called a “pissant company”. They’ve been told that they weren’t competition. Well, AEW is certainly not a pissant company and, when it comes to being competition, they’re not just competition for the big, bad machine that is the WWE, they are better and last night, AEW officially planted their flag firmly atop the professional wrestling landscape.

In one night, CM Punk made his return to the ring after a 7 year absence, Ruby Soho (formerly Ruby Riott) made her debut and won the casino battle royale, Adam Cole debuted and joined The Elite and Bryan F’ing Danielson put the cherry on top with his debut to end the show. What’s sad is that I’m completely overlooking the fact that The Young Bucks and the Lucha Brothers had a cage match for the ages, we’re getting Jon Moxley and Minoru Suzuki this Wednesday and MJF and Chris Jericho had a great match. Those are all things that, on a normal night, would be heavily spotlighted but last night was different. I feel like AEW and Tony Khan knew they had an opportunity to really make a statement last night and they did just that. They could’ve held off on one of Cole or Danielson debuting for another night but he pulled the trigger on both on the same night because he knew it would get the reaction it did and would have the significance that it does and it was awesome. Just a perfect scenario and it created one of the most memorable nights in wrestling history. Yeah, that’s right. This was the best wrestling PPV that any show has put in that I can remember in recent memory. It was electric from start to finish and was perfectly done and what’s even crazier is that AEW is going to get even better. Pretty soon, Cody Rhodes will be back, Hangman Page will be back, Windham Rotunda (Bray Wyatt) will more than likely be on the roster and I’m sure Tony Khan will have more surprises up his sleeve.

What makes AEW great is that, while they are signing established wrestlers and stars, they are using those guys and girls to help build up others on their roster as well and create new stars. They’ve used Chris Jericho to help build MJF. They’ve used Cody Rhodes to help build Malakai Black. They’re using CM Punk and Sting to help elevate Darby Allin, Daniel Garcia and 2Point0. They are doing things the right way and it’s incredibly exciting. Meanwhile, SmackDown is at MSG this Friday and the promo WWE is running features Brock Lesnar and Edge. Don’t get me wrong, I love those guys and they are stars but you could’ve ran that ad 10 years ago and it would’ve been relevant. The lack of new stars has always been a problem with WWE and now, they’re throwing away talent they don’t see value in and are letting AEW flourish because they are giving fans what they want and that is wrestling.

I’m very excited for wrestling at this moment because there are more doors open than ever and I’ll watch it all but don’t get it twisted. WWE may be a money making machine but when they are not the best product on television and frankly, it’s not even close.

The Brooklyn Nets Better Win The Whole Thing This Coming Season

Well, that’s it. The most talented roster of all-time has been assembled and since that’s the case, this Nets team better win the NBA Championship this year. No excuses. No bitching and moaning about load management or injuries to star players. No using Kyrie Irving randomly not showing up for weeks at a time as a crutch. If any of those things happen this upcoming year, it’s too bad and it’s next man up because this is the greatest roster ever assembled and anything short of an NBA title is a failure of a year.

I’ll give it to Brooklyn. They’ve had a great off-season but it’s not very hard to have a great off-season when you’re a super team and players want to line up to play with you to win a championship. Keeping Blake Griffin, signing Paul Millsap and brining back a newly cleared LaMarcus Aldridge are all great depth moves for this team and gives them veterans with vast experience in big moments but lets be honest. It was either Brooklyn or Los Angeles for these guys. There was no where else for them to go and at this point in their careers, I get it but it’s not like this took some fancy maneuvering by Sean Marks to land these 3 former all-stars. Moves that were impressive were bringing in Patty Mills, drafting Cam Thomas and Day’Ron Sharpe and acquiring James Johnson. Backcourt depth that can score at any moment is always great to have, especially when one of your stars main attributes is going AWOL. Sharpe and Johnson give them nice front court depth, as if they don’t have enough of that now after today, and will most likely push DeAndre Jordan out the door. Nice little contract he got just for being friends with Kyrie and KD, eh?

The fact is the Nets, once again, are loaded and should be the favorites to win the NBA Championship. But that’s not enough. They HAVE TO win it this year. They need to not just be the favorites but they need to play like the favorites because this is all I’ve heard from everyone over the past two years and when they were eliminated this past season, the excuses were endless and this is a team that doesn’t have excuses, no matter what happens. You have the best player in the world. You have 3 of the top 15 best players in the league. You have one of the best 3 point shooters in the league. Your bench is littered with former all-stars. There are no excuses. It’s win it all or nothing and because I’m a Knicks’ fan and want to see this team and “fanbase” suffer, I’m all in on nothing but if they stay healthy, I think they will win it all and for their sake, they better.

Vince McMahon And Bruce Prichard Are Taking Over NXT, Effectively Killing NXT

“Like anything, anything can change, anything is possible but I talked a while ago about how we’re gonna have a new NXT. It’s gonna be like the old NXT. I have heard from several people now that when they go back to live shows, this is going to be a Vince McMahon-Bruce Prichard production.”

Welp, this sucks.

NXT had turned into a property and brand, under the thumb of Triple H, Matt Bloom, William Regal and Shawn Michaels, that garnered incredible interest, put on unbelievable shows and constantly put on matches that were forever talked about. From Sasha Banks vs. Bayley at TakeOver Brooklyn to The Revival against American Alpha for the tag team titles at TakeOver Dallas in 2016 to Shinsuke Nakamura’s debut WWE match on the same Dallas show against Sami Zayn, NXT has created so many incredible moments and matches and became a place for diehard, actual wrestling fans to go and get their wrestling fix and not “sports entertainment”. Now, that’s all going to change.

I’m convinced Vince McMahon didn’t watch NXT for a long time and then, once it was going head to head with AEW, it became a priority to him. He started paying attention here and there and because it wasn’t what he saw on Raw or SmackDown, he didn’t like it. Now, NXT has moved to Tuesday, losing the Wednesday Night War, and it appears that Vince has continued to pay attention to the show rather than just let it go back into the hands of Triple H. He will now take control of the show, along with Bruce Prichard, and more than likely ruin it.

He already doesn’t view his company as wrestling company and finds that word offensive. If he calls up an NXT superstar to the “main roster”, he either immediately changes everything about them, forgets about them, they get lost in the shuffle or all of the above happens. We’ve seen it with Finn Balor, Karrion Kross, Keith Lee, The Revival, Samoa Joe, Ember Moon, Toni Storm and more. The list goes on and on and will most likely continue to do so. And with them now going in a different direction and no longer even scouting and signing actual independent wrestlers, this could turn bad very quickly.

I’m willing to give it a chance because I’m a fan and change is always intriguing, no matter how bad of an idea it may seem on the surface, so we’ll see what happens but if it indeed does go back to the “old NXT”, as has been suggested, and wrestlers are taking part in game show antics and racing around the ring while holding a keg, well, then Vince McMahon would have killed another one of his creations and for no good reason.
